The timber wholesaler Fries has been supplying wood and wood products to the handicraft industry for over 50 years. The family business with more than 400 staff still sees itself as a partner to the professional craft and is especially well known in northern and eastern Germany as one of the leading distributors of wood.

Following a restructuring of its headquarters in Kiel, the task for OHRA was to equip the two newly-built warehouses for KVH and wooden boards with shelf systems. For these wood products robust scaffolds are the ideal storage system.

In the "KVH-hall" (Solid construction Timber-hall) the relevant goods can be kept in up to a storage limit of 5,500 mm. The one-and two-sided cantilever racks have a storage depth of 1,200 mm each and are designed to handle weight of up to 650 kg /m³. The handling is done with a side loader.

In the "wood panel hall" cantilever length with a radius of up to 2,100 mm is ideal for the storage of wood and particleboard. The storage limit here is 6,500 mm, which is handled by means of a four-way forklift with attachable commissioning platform.

In addition to the delivery of the new cantilever in the existing old buildings, a complete reconstruction of the existing rack systems was done. All shelves have been dismantled in an old location and professionally installed by OHRA technicians in the new location.

For the storage of other products such as floor coverings or carpets existing pallet racks of OHRA have been expertly converted so that a provision may be made of the goods for delivery to customers without extensive infrastructure.

For the existing open air ground, OHRA provides the cantilever design with galvanized roofing, so that the wood stored here is protected from rain and can breathe at the same time. In total OHRA solved this warehouse task up to the satisfaction of the customer. They only had one contact for both new construction and for the conversion of existing storage systems.
